Group Operations Graduate at Westpac Group
Bachelor of Commerce at University of Sydney (USYD)
Why did you choose the Group Operations Graduate Program?
If you love fast-paced environments, change, and knowing that ultimately you are making a difference in so many ways, then you’ll love working in Group Operations! Group Operations is a really fascinating and fast-paced business. I like to think of it as the engine of the bank – we are the ones that make the magic happen.
And why did you apply to work as a graduate at Westpac Group?
I applied for Westpac Group because of its commitment to its people. I wanted to work for a company that had a focus on employee growth and development and a wealth of opportunities for every individual: I’ve definitely found this to be true on my career journey so far.
What else can a graduate get involved in, outside of the program rotations?
Outside of my day job, I was fortunate enough to support the Graduate Community Consulting Committee Group. I worked alongside a small team of very dedicated grads, and together we committed to helping Australian charities and causes throughout the year. We managed to do some great things, including a national OzHarvest and clothing appeal, organised blood donations, participated in food van volunteering and fundraised through multiple channels for Youth Off the Streets, our nominated charity. It is such a fulfilling way of giving back, to both Westpac and Australian communities, and to also engage other grads and stakeholders to make a real difference.
