Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges, and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

As part of the Summer Internship program, we are looking for multiple interns to join our growing team across various Victorian locations. The internship program aims to build the next generation of diverse and inclusive talent ready for careers in construction.

Major Road Projects Victoria Internship Program:

  • Full-time/Part-Time, 6-month opportunity based in Melbourne/virtually
  • Gain hands-on experience and help shape the delivery of some of Victoria's largest road construction projects
  • Participate in interactive career and professional development workshops
  • Apply for industry-based learning credit towards your degree

We are looking for interns in the following areas to join our growing teams:

Engineering (Civil)

You'll be exposed to the design, development, and delivery of upgrades to Victoria's roads. You'll have the opportunity to learn about reviewing designs, contractor works, program and design tracking.

The MRPV office locations for our Civil Interns will be in the following areas: Dandenong, Essendon Fields, Narre Warren, Traralgon, Geelong, and Melbourne CBD.

Human Resources - Data and Analytics

You'll learn about HR data and analytics, and gain insight into the data-driven approaches of HR. Support preparation, communication and maintenance of reports, presentations, and data findings with HR documents and data.

Social Value & Inclusion

You'll support the team with initiatives to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce and supply chain to help build Victoria's roads.

Procurement & Commercial

Procurement - You'll help manage the purchase of goods and services required to support the operation of different projects. You'll learn about the relevant procurement guidelines and policies that Victorian Government agencies must abide by.

Commercial  - You'll assist in supporting the commercial team in all aspects of commercial advice, this may include aiding in business case development, contract negotiations and procurement strategies.

You’ll support the team with technical studies, assist in the preparation, review and management of statutory materials, develop strong relationships, and liaise closely with relevant internal & external project stakeholders. You’ll also assist in planning and environmental monitoring and compliance, including site-based compliance as required with site visits.

As an intern at MRPV, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience related to your current studies. You'll be part of a team delivering a range of road projects, and you'll be able to see the impact of this work as you travel through the state each day.

Summer Internship Information & Eligibility

The position will be for a fixed term period of up to 6 months. The internship will be on a full-time or part-time basis where hours will be flexible to suit your Uni timetable. If you are looking to get some hands-on experience in a supportive environment – this is the role for you!

I love the variety of this role; the combination of stakeholder engagement and project management tasks means that I am contributing to the project in different ways even in the same day.
