Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
First year graduates must complete 'Foundations' which is a number of workshops and courses to familiarise you with and improve base knowledge around areas key to the Ministry.

Formal training is provided as a Grad, but dispersed throughout your first year. 80% of training in MFAT is on the job.

Foundations training programme is fairly comprehensive and well-designed. A few of the sessions scheduled for late in the year teach skills I have needed since very early on (such as writing style). Informal training by the lead adviser is exceptional.

formal training is good, informal ... less so ppl just expect you to know things. very hard if you have never worked int he public sector before

You get an awesome in-depth training provided in your first year, and these opportunities continue through your career.

Actually tailored for the role, which is great.

The first year of the grad programme is spent doing Foundations. Foundations is a one year development programme of courses, visits and learning. You spend around 10% of your first year doing the different courses/training that make up Foundations. It is also a great way to get to know the other grads across the Ministry better.
