Level Crossing Removal Project, with the Rail Academy and on behalf of Victoria's Big Build, is proud to host a highly unique and rewarding opportunity; creating a new generation of rail talent for Victoria.

Partnering with some of the most successful and progressive rail industry operators and organisations, we have developed a Rail Signalling Engineer Cadet Program to meet the growing demand for this highly specialised signalling expertise.

About Victoria's Big Build

Victoria's Big Build (Major Transport Infrastructure Authority – MTIA) was established to oversee the major transport projects in planning and construction to deliver 119 major road and rail projects that will change the way that Victorians live, work and travel. Railway signal engineering is crucial to the safe and successful delivery of these projects.

Our project teams include - Rail Projects Victoria, North East Link Project, West Gate Tunnel Project, Level Crossing Removal Project and Major Roads Project Victoria.

Some of our program partners include – Metro Trains Melbourne, V/Line, Jacobs and other construction and design firms delivering work on the Level Crossing Removal Projects.

About the program

The program offers a pathway into the rail industry via a three-year paid cadetship, gaining on the job experience working alongside Victoria's leading railway signalling and construction engineers. You will work on real projects across the sector and undertake a fully sponsored Graduate Diploma in Railway Signal Engineering, equipping you with the requisite skills and knowledge for a successful career in rail.

About you

You will want to make a difference for all Victorians while gaining experience and capabilities to develop your career. You will have the tenacity and drive to commit to a three-year program and thrive from working alongside multi-disciplined teams. You must be a recent graduate of select specialities, or an engineer with 5 + years' recent work experience. My role is to assist in delivering the strategic communications & stakeholder relations applicable to certain projects. I complete the ground work, assisting enquiries from concerned and immediately affected stakeholders. I also have a hand in organising community engagement events.
