YOUR OPPORTUNITY

You have completed your university studies (or are on track to complete by the end of 2022), had some experience within a commercial business and are now ready to jump into the big league. You love all things accounting.

Working within the Finance team this role is responsible for supporting the financial accounting activities of Grant Thornton Australia Limited and all related entities ensuring the provisions of accurate and timely internal accounting and finances services. Your understanding of the accounting function will ensure you are able to work effectively with team members and clients to answer queries relating to statutory compliance and general account queries. Duties will include but not limited to;

  • Support for the group's financial accounting activities by providing key operational and strategic financial support to the business and wider finance team
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reporting and annual statutory reporting
  • Bank reconciliations and cash flow management
  • Trust Account Administration (APES310)
  • Improving internal controls
  • Accounts Payable backup
  • Assisting in the preparation and management of the group’s monthly BAS, year-end income & FBT tax returns requirements as well as compliance with local and international standards
  • Assisting in the annual external audit

Please note, this entry-level role will see you working with Grant Thornton’s in-house Finance team and is not part of our broader graduate program.

  • Strong financial analytical skills
  • Technical accounting, taxation and reporting skills
  • Well-developed MS Excel skills and a working knowledge of accounting packages

  • 9 day working fortnights during quiet periods has been amazing. It helps incentivise me to finish my work earlier so I can get time off.

Cons

    • It seems that there is not much cross over between different service lines.

    • Sometimes you are required to work after hours.

    • Sometimes you will need to visit the client that is quite far away.

    • While the starting salary may be lower, the potential for growth and advancement is promising.

    • Lots of online training modules to complete at the beginning.
