The Opportunity

Calling all recent Electrical Engineering graduates interested in manufacturing operations and management, Selleys is looking to get you started on your career journey!

Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager you will work with the various Maintenance and Production teams at the Selleys Padstow manufacturing site to focus on Safety, Quality and cost projects. You will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the plant through team-based problem-solving activities.

In addition, you will also join the DuluxGroup Graduate program and receive ongoing training, participating in development workshops, projects and group events that are designed to foster interaction and a fun culture within the Graduate team.

Throughout the program you will receive mentoring from respected senior managers and exposure to our executive teams; you will experience first-hand, the various field and corporate based work environments; and receive assessments and feedback along the way. Most importantly, you will be encouraged to spread your wings and make the most of every opportunity!

What you will bring and develop:

To be successful you will be open to learning, ambitious and have proven leadership qualities. You will be a genuine team player, with a professional confidence and a maturity to listen to others and take on feedback. Ideally you can demonstrate;

  • Natural communications and analytical mindset;
  • Previous experience on process control / SCADA / PLC will be highly regarded
  • A go-getter attitude with a commitment to developing a career;
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or (or higher);
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment will be highly regarded.

Please note, our successful candidate must have permanent working rights within Australia and be able to submit their academic transcript as part of their application.

What our current graduates enjoy about the program:

“I like that my role is really diverse. There are no two days that are the same. Some days I am in store talking to our consumers and customers about our products, other days are spent talking with business owners about how Dulux can help them improve their procurement or service models to increase profitability or efficiencies in their own business, I could go on!”

“I really enjoy how empowered I am in this role. We are encouraged to ‘run the business as our own’ which means we really own our territory/account. Of course this means you will make mistakes, however we are trained and encouraged to figure out how we would go differently about things next time and always encouraged to continue learning and developing.”

I enjoy my role because no two days are the same. Working in R&D I get to use my technical knowledge to solve problems and innovate new products. I am responsible for day-to-day maintenance of formulas and get to work with Manufacturing as well as Marketing to develop new products for our customers.

I work to develop NPD as well as maintaining the current product portfolio. Day-to-day, I balance my time in the lab making formulas and conducting testing, with research, results analysis and meetings.

Pros and cons of working at Dulux Group

Pros

  • Work life balance - everyone is respectful of differing working hours and will make sure team members aren't logging off too late.

  • + Flexibility of Work From Anywhere. I'm able to come to the office 2 - 3 days a week and WFH for the rest! + Grad's are given a lot of opportunities to grow and expand their knowledge in their fields as well as collaborate with multiple departments and Business Units

  • People focus is the best value I learned at DuluxGroun

  • Room for flexibility, autonomy, and growth.

  • The people + culture, engaging work, development opportunities and constant investment in your development too

  • Very people focused and supports progression within the company

Cons

    • Technology and systems are outdated, and the process to upgrading these are slow

    • Some of management can be set in their ways (not all) making it hard to push through new ideas.

    • The outdated systems and convoluted filing systems How old and far the office is

    • Complicated business structure

    • It is a large company, which has benefits in terms of lots of different job opportunities in the same company, but a minus would be if you do not drive your own development and career goals you can get lost.
