At the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, our focus, put in its simplest terms, is to find new ways to improve the lives of all Australians. About the program

The Graduate Program (Program) is a 12-month Program founded on flexibility and empowerment. Like University, you are provided the agency to navigate your own journey and experiences.

  • Choose from the Generalist or Corporate Stream.
  • The 'Choose Your Own Adventure' platform allows the freedom and flexibility to determine your rotations to better align with your capabilities and interests.

Generalist Stream

For the curious mind, those who do not have the end goal in sight, but who seek to be inspired on their journey of discovery.

The Generalist Stream will take you on a journey of discovery as you explore and experience the wider work of the Department. You will have an open mind and will seek a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Department's key priorities including:

  • Domestic, Economic and Social Policy
  • National Security and International Policy
  • Industry, Infrastructure and Environment

Corporate Stream

For individuals who like being a part of the big picture and are committed to their following their field of study from the lecture hall and into the workplace.

The Corporate Stream allows you to use your skillset and technical expertise to achieve outcomes and drive high quality services. You will be passionate about supporting the Department's enabling services and Government functions including:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Communications and Media
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Financial Management
  • Parliamentary, Cabinet and Ministerial Support
  • Protocols and International Visits
