Graduate positions will commence in July 2021 or January 2022.

Life at BDO

As a new team member it is important that we help you find your feet and adjust to a new environment and culture. Our induction program allows Graduates to get to know each other through various team building exercises and workshops which are designed to ensure you feel right at home with us!

Throughout your career BDO continues to offer plenty of learning and development opportunities through our National L&OD program as well as local training opportunities. We assign you a "buddy" on your first day so you receive personal attention to assist in understanding your responsibilities, the logic behind the work you are doing and where to go for help if required. Throughout the year, we offer casual Fridays, team bonding days and a wide variety of social events through our active social club. We ensure you receive plenty of opportunities to network with your colleagues in relaxed, social environments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A tertiary degree in Commerce, Business or Law, with an Accounting/Finance/Economics or Law major;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven academic achievement with a WAM of 70 or above;
  • Previous customer focused work experience, accounting or non-accounting related;
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities such as University clubs, volunteer work etc.;
  • Teamwork skills, commercial awareness and problem solving abilities;
  • Motivation for continuous learning.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
