Join BDO as a Vacationer in our Sustainability team in either June 2024, November 2024 or January 2025!  

BDO is one of the worldโ€™s leading audit, accounting, advisory and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.  

As a Vacationer youโ€™ll see firsthand how our Sustainability team assist our clients with their sustainability goals through carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, sustainability and decarbonisation strategy and sustainability assurance. 

This will vary day to day and can include working closely with the team on materiality assessments and helping understand what matters most to our stakeholders, processing outputs from stakeholder interviews, surveys and workshops, benchmarking activities, and attending both virtual and in person client meetings. Opportunity to collaborate with a variety of service lines in relation to different projects with a sustainability lens.

What youโ€™ll offer:โ€ฏ 

  • Your knowledge from your current studies โ€“ no degree discipline requirement but a passion for all things sustainability
  • You will be in your penultimate or final year!   
  • Your availability to commence in either June 2024, November 2024 or January 2025 for 4 weeks. Length of program and available intakes may vary in each location.

Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
